Why is strategy hard to explain?

Everyone’s creative and everyone’s strategic. While true, there are moments when you’re one or the other. Being strategic means being proactive. Being creative means executing. Both require critical thinking. But strategy is different than critical thinking.

What does a strategist do?

Uncover, validate, clarify and uphold the truth.

Strategy brings intentionality. Strategy allows teams to make decisions based on a mix of logic and intuition. That doesn’t mean always making the logical decision, but at least the decision can be made intentionally.

It’s not just research, strategists provide insights. It’s not just insights, strategists provide an actionable POV. It’s not just a POV, strategists provide a plan for execution. It’s not just a plan for execution, strategists stay involved on project to uphold the strategy.
